Q & A
Q: Why is there a fee to attend the conference this year?
A: In 2009, Hillsborough Kids received a grant from DCF specifically for the conference. We do not have grant funds this year. Registration payments will assist in defraying all costs associated with conducting this two-day conference.
Q: How does my organization remit payment for the conference prior to the event?
A: After registering online, registrants must submit a check, payable to Hillsborough Kids, to attend the conference. The ideal scenario is for an organization to tally the number of staff who have registered online and submit ONE check to Hillsborough Kids by March 5.
Q: How will supervisors and directors know if their staff have registered for the conference?
A: When an attendee registers online, each is required to include their supervisor’s name and email address. Each supervisor will receive an automated email with the name of their staff who has registered.
Q: How will I know if I my registration is confirmed and I can attend the conference?
A: After we receive payment, we will send an email confirming your attendance.
Q: What happens if I pay for two days but can only attend one day of the conference?
A: We are required to provide USF Catering Department with a guaranteed number of attendees so they can properly prepare sufficient quantities of food. If you are unable to attend either the first or second day of the conference, but have paid for both days, you can transfer your nametag to a colleague.
Q: If there is space, can I register in the morning of the conference?
A: Unfortunately, we are unable to accept any new registrations during the conference. We anticipate the conference to be full.
Q: Do I have to pay for parking for the conference?
A: No. As you enter the parking garage near the Marshall Center, a Hillsborough Kids volunteer will greet you and hand you a parking pass to display on your car while you attend the conference.
Q: Do we need to sign up ahead of time for specific workshops?
A: No. As long as there are available chairs in the workshop, you are welcome to attend any one. Volunteer proctors will assist attendees with finding an available chair.
