We are who we are because of what…? Take a look back at your life, the happiness, the sorrow, the trauma, the heartaches and the relationships we had and have with others all contribute to how we live our lives today. Utilizing a Trauma Informed approach, we can recognize our own strengths and weaknesses to help the children heal and develop healthy attachments and relationships.
Hillsborough Kids is partnering with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) in implementing a Trauma Informed System of Care. Hillsborough Kids requests all foster parents, contracted providers and case management agencies adopt this Trauma Sensitive model of providing services to the children and families within the system of care.
Hillsborough Kids has contracted with a consultant who is nationally recognized as an expert on implementation of a Trauma Sensitive System of Care. Hillsborough Kids will use this expertise to guide the system during the transition.
Becoming a trauma informed system, and providing beneficial services to a traumatized population, will require macro system transformation at each and every level of the system. Hillsborough Kids has taken the approach to incorporate Trauma Informed Care practices into all the areas served within our community.
Throughout the state, there have been Trauma Informed Care, (TIC) trainings offered by DCF over the past few months, and there will be more trainings available in the future. There are several individuals from each agency within the Hillsborough Kids system of care that are involved in the Trauma Informed Care workgroups which are ongoing statewide. Hillsborough Kids plans to utilize the information and training obtained from these efforts to create a unique and effective trauma sensitive system of care. The continuing effort to embrace and expand the benefits of Trauma Informed Care will only benefit those we serve and are most in need of our support and compassion.
Hillsborough Kids is committed to moving forward and supporting the implementation of Trauma Informed Care throughout the system of care. We hope you will also support this very important effort in the care and treatment of those who come to you for assistance as well.
