Hillsborough Kids, Inc. was founded with the mission of providing safety and permanence to children of Hillsborough County. We believe that by bringing resources from the state down to the community level, engaging professional and volunteer child advocates in the battle against child abuse, and empowering these dedicated caregivers with the resources and authority to do their jobs, that we can execute on this mission.
Last year was a dynamic year in the life of Hillsborough Kids. The organization underwent significant change in leadership and operational structure. Much of this has been challenging, as through these changes we were steadfast in our commitment to keep our children safe and secure. Through each of these challenges the Hillsborough Kids team, our stakeholders, and our community partners rose to meet the challenge through engaged, collaborative leadership. As a result, we exceeded our adoption goal, providing safe, permanent homes for 377 of our children.
This year brings a new set of opportunities to improve the lives of our children. We will focus on reducing out-of-home care loads and total children in the system. We will focus on providing "life skills" to our older children through an enhanced Independent Living Services program. And we will respond to the RFP from the State to continue providing this program in Hillsborough County.
